Objective
In an era where security threats are evolving faster than the laws designed to contain them, where digital borders are becoming increasingly blurred and legal certainties are eroding, one question is becoming unavoidable: how far can law enforcement go without crossing the line? 'Do Not Cross' is not just a conference - it is a call to action.
Bringing together leading voices from across Europe, including the Executive Director of Europol, the European Data Protection Supervisor and a senior representative of the Portuguese Judiciary Police, this event will address the most pressing issues at the intersection of security, technology and fundamental rights.
The agenda dives into the fault lines shaping modern law enforcement, from the strategic push for EU cloud sovereignty to the unsettling question of what happens when the rule of law falters. Participants will explore emerging threats, such as violent nihilistic online networks (e.g. 764 and COM), the evolving debate on data access for law enforcement and the delicate balance between operational effectiveness and privacy protections.
The conference will also address operational realities, including how to safeguard witness protection in a data-driven world, how to strengthen cyber resilience amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, and how to navigate the increasingly complex role of Data Protection Officers in law enforcement agencies.
