Virginia Pavel

I was born in Targoviste, Romania. A graduate of both the
University of Bucharest (Bachelor's degree, Masters degree - 2007-2011)
and Paris I Pantheon Sorbonne (Bachelor's degree, Master 1 et Master 2
in European and International Business Law - 2007-2011), followed by a
Phd in European Competition Law from Paris X Nanterre (2021).


I have worked as a member of the Bucharest Bar,
acting as either a lawyer or as an in-house counsel (2012 and 2017),
then as a competition inspector with the national competition authority
of Romania, Consiliul Concurentei (2018-2024). I was a university
teaching assistant in European competition law at the French-Romanian
European Studies College (2014-2023) and in Introduction to Law at the
University of Bucharest (2011-2017). As well as having been a
representative of the national competition authority to the OECD
(September 2019, Kiev), I was a rapporteur for the European Commission
for the works of the Competition Authorities' Advisory Committee (April
2021, Brussels).


I have had various articles published in international
journals on competition law enforcement in the health sector, and in the
ITC sector, as well as the relationship between merger regulation and
Article 102 TFEU.
