Public authorities in the EU spend around 14% of GDP per year on the
purchase of services, works and supplies. When public procurement is
affected by bid-rigging this can cause serious harm to the economy. It
is essential that national authorities be well prepared to prevent,
detect and investigate bid-rigging practices.
Businesses can also suffer serious damage as a
result of their participation in bid-rigging conspiracies and should
know how to avoid being involved in such practices. This online workshop
aims to analyse the topic of bid-rigging from two different
perspectives: that of the public authorities whose activity is related
to the conduction and supervision of the tender process and that of
businesses who should be aware of the risks of collusive tendering.
Key topics
- How to design a tender to prevent and
detect bid-rigging
- Common red flags in
procurement
- Main challenges in the investigation of
collusive tendering
- Avoiding involvement in bid-rigging:
