This conference will focus on the recast of the Brussels I Regulation. On 14 December 2010, the European Commission published its proposal to review the Regulation on jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters (COM(2010) 748) which aims to overcome the existing shortcomings of this highly important instrument of civil litigation.
The conference will discuss the following topics:
- Disputes involving third country defendants
- Efficiency of choice of court agreements
- Interface between litigation and arbitration
- Provisional and protective measures
- Abolition of exequatur
The conference will provide the participants with an in-depth analysis of the recast. The objective is to promote a far-reaching and thorough debate concerning the most important or complex issues inherent to cross-border litigation in Europe.
