This e-Presentation offers an overview of key elements of European banking and financial markets regulation, including macro-prudential regulation, the interaction between the ECB, EBA and the SSM, CRD, CRR, and the EU Bank Recovery and Resolution framework.


Kern Alexander holds the Professorial Chair in Law and Finance at the University of Zurich and is also Senior Research Fellow in Financial Regulation at the Centre for Financial Analysis and Policy, University of Cambridge. In 2011, he was appointed Specialist Adviser to the UK Parliament’s Select Committee on the Draft Financial Services Bill. He is also a Member of Expert Panel on Financial Services for the European Parliament. In this role, he advises the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and other EU Parliament committees on a variety of economic, legal and regulatory issues that relate to EU financial regulation, supervision and legislative reforms. He is the author of numerous academic articles and several books on banking and securities law and international economic and financial regulation. His academic articles have been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of International Economic Law, Journal of Corporate Law Studies, the European Business Organization Review, and the Journal of Banking.
