Trier – a worthwhile venue for a meeting

Nestled between the mountains and forests of the Hunsrück and Eifel regions and the terraced vineyards of the Moselle, Saar and Sauer river valleys, Trier – Germany’s oldest city – is surrounded by scenic countryside and offers excellent value for money.

Due to its location at the crossroads of four countries, Trier is very international. Luxembourg is virtually at Trier’s doorstep. It takes less than 45 minutes by car to reach Trier from the French border. Travelling to Trier from Belgium or the Netherlands does not take much longer.

Travel back in time to Roma Secunda, the second Rome: this was Trier’s name during Roman times when it was the emperor’s residence. You will find traces of several eras in Trier: the Romantic period, the Gothic period, Renaissance and the Baroque period. Well preserved ruins are witness to past eras and invite you to explore and discover history.

Trier is a city for all seasons; and it always provides both inspiration and relaxation. Resting, relaxing, enjoying is not a problem in Trier.

Trier’s restaurants provide something for every taste – whether you prefer elegant dining or hearty meals from the Moselle region. During the winter season, Trier’s annual Christmas market puts you into the right holiday spirit.
