Objective
This seminar will provide practitioners with an analysis of the main changes in the European Commission’s recent proposal to review the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive 2004/39/EC (MiFID) and the essential challenges arising from them.
The MiFID II proposal significantly extends the powers of intervention of EU and national regulatory authorities, addresses hitherto weakly regulated business areas and radically changes the scope of the legal obligations for the financial sector. Along with the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and the Market Abuse Directive (MAD), the review of MiFID is one of the EU’s attempts to strengthen and stabilise the financial system.
