Commissioner Navracsics wants creators to get a fair share

The Audiovisual Media Service Directive (AVMSD) and the new proposals from the European Commission have been discussed with practitioners. The cross-border aspects of media landscape has also been part of the discussion as well as the review of the Satellite and Cable Directive (SatCab). Additionally a follow-up of the public consultation on the role of online platforms and the latest jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union was presented. Finally, the annual conference on European Media Law gave media service providers an overview about competition law issues relevant for the audiovisual service sector, fundamental rights and data protection facing media and technical convergence. The restriction to media pluralism in some member states was a topic of discussion as well as the application of the rule of law in the EU.
