Objective
This
summer course will introduce legal practitioners to the law and practice
of cross-border civil litigation within the EU and beyond.
A variety of different EU instruments (including the relevant case law)
will be discussed, inter alia the Brussels Ia Regulation, the European
Enforcement Order, the (new) European Payment Order and Small Claims
Procedure, the European Account Preservation Order, the Regulation on
the Service of Documents and Taking of Evidence and Alternative Dispute
Resolution including mediation and ODR within the EU. Speakers will
provide hands-on experience and give hints which procedure to choose in a
given situation. They will also address the issue of cross-border civil
litigation with the UK after Brexit.

Participants will be able to deepen their knowledge through
exercises and daily workshops in which active participation is
encouraged.

Visit to the European Court of Justice
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.
