This five-day summer course will provide a thorough overview of the constitutional and institutional law of the European Union under the Lisbon Treaty. It will present the evolution and the constitutional foundations of the EU and the tasks of the various institutions and their roles in the EU decision-making process will be examined.
Special attention will be given to the work of the European Court of Justice, the system of judicial remedies and the role of the national courts. The course will also examine the scope of the European Union’s competences and both the EU’s ‘core’ policies and its newer policies will be discussed.
The course is aimed at legal practitioners seeking an introduction to European constitutional law.
Participants will have the opportunity to prepare in advance through an e-learning course via ERA's website.
