Objective
This second seminar in a series co-funded by the European Commission will focus on the work of the Council of Europe and international bodies in improving conditions related to detention.

- Work of the Council of Europe and its European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) in the field of detention
- The Council of Europe’s legal body of recommendations, conventions and resolutions, in particular the European Prison Rules
- UN Optional Protocol against Torture (OPCAT) and national preventive mechanisms
- Alternatives to imprisonment, actions on improving detention conditions and improving prison monitoring coordination among key actors.
Who should attend?
Judges, prosecutors, lawyers in private practice, ministry officials, and officials from judicial training institutions, prison administrations, the probation system and prison monitoring bodies.
Conditions of participation
Registration fee: € 85
Accommodation for two nights (6-8 May 2015) up to €110 per night will be reimbursed by ERA upon receipt of the original receipts and invoices after the seminar. Please note that these rules do not apply to representatives of EU Institutions and Agencies and all inhabitants from non-EU states, who should cover their own accommodation.
Participants are asked to book their own travel, which will not be reimbursed, and accommodation.
