Objective

This four-day course will provide a thorough introduction to human rights law and the rule of law in the European Union.

  • what is the relationship between national catalogues of human rights, the ECHR and the Charter of the EU
  • in which cases can the procedure of Article 7 TEU be triggered
  • how to access documents in the EU
  • under which circumstances a reform of the judicial system can threaten the independence of the judiciary
  • when the right of access to a court is violated
  • how to find a balance between fundamental rights and restrictive measures
The programme consists of presentations, workshops and case studies.

Visit to the CJEU in Luxembourg

Visit to the CJEU in Luxembourg Participants in this summer course will also have the opportunity to visit the Court of Justice of the EU in Luxembourg.

After a day's intensive training, enjoy our varied social programme: the course dinner with fellow participants, winetasting in the Mosel vineyards, a tour of the historic city of Trier.
