Objective
The purpose of
this course is to introduce (family) lawyers to practical aspects of
European and international family law.
This course will be over five mornings with each half-day focusing on
the most relevant topics in family litigation, namely
- Cross-border divorce
- Parent-child relationships including
parental child abduction
- Covid-19 implications on family
issues
- Family law and human rights
- Cross-border maintenance obligations
towards children
- Property regimes of international
couples
This course will provide you with hands-on experience on cross-border
family cases and the recent jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the
EU and the European Court of Human Rights.
All relevant instruments in this field will be presented and analysed,
by way of both lectures and case studies. You will benefit from daily
workshops where active participation is encouraged. In the workshops,
case studies will be discussed in small groups over the Internet.

thorough introduction to the various instruments in EU family law and
the interplay with the most relevant Hague conventions in this
field.

The seminar will be hosted on ERA’s
own online training platform. You will be able to interact immediately

out into working groups and work collaboratively on case studies. We
will make the most of the technical tools available to deliver an
intensive, interactive training experience.
