This presentation offers a comprehensive analysis of the right to information in the context of legal texts in the EU. Being involved in the process of updating Regulation 1049/2001, Päivi Leino-Sandberg gives insight by introducing the scope of the right in general and the differences in the quality of protection and by offering a number of starting points to strengthen the right in the EU, as well as taking into consideration the potential harm disclosure might cause.

Päivi Leino-Sandberg is a Professor of International and European Law at UEF Law School (Helsinki). She is also a member of the Academy of Finland Research Fellow.
