Serbia became a member of the Academy of European Law
At the annual meeting of the Academy of European Law's Board of Trustees, Jelena Deretic, Deputy Minister at the Serbian Ministry of Justice, signed the accession agreement together with Marc van der Woude, Chairman of ERA's Board of Trustees, and the Academy's Director, Jean-Philippe Rageade.
Marc van der Woude stated: “A good knowledge of European law is indispensable for those who are in the EU, those who intend to join it and for those who do business with it. Serbia’s accession to ERA is a therefore natural and welcome step both for Serbia and ERA.”
Supporting legal and judicial professionals in the countries of the Western Balkans in preparing for their future membership of the European Union is one of the pillars of ERA's development strategy for the period 2021-2027. To achieve this goal, the Academy has been working intensively on this topic and has organised several training measures for and in this region.
Serbian civil servants and members of the judiciary will now benefit from a special patrons’ discount when attending ERA events. As an ERA Patron, Serbia will also have a seat on our ERA Governing Board.
