This conference will provide an overview of current issues and future challenges in European insurance law, as well as a forum for discussion between legal practitioners active in the sector.
The conference's main focus will be the cross-border insurance contract. The law governing the contract as well as the main issues arising before, during and after its conclusion will be analysed by experts in the field in the light of recent developments in legislation and jurisprudence.
Further measures directed to the more efficient protection of the policyholder and likely to significantly influence the insurance sector in the aftermath of the financial crisis will be addressed:
- The harmonisation of insurance guarantee schemes
- The Green Paper on consumer collective redress
- Legal insurance in the light of the Eschig case (C-199/08)
- Solvency II after the adoption of the Framework Directive
