, 9 December 2010 – 10 December 2010
Language:

Event number:

Areas of law:

Significant legislative instruments have been adopted at EU level in recent years aiming to ensure that passengers benefit from the same level of protection irrespective of the part of the EU in which they are travelling. New rights have been accorded, regulatory restraints imposed, national authorities created and a significant body of jurisprudence developed.

The objective of this conference is to analyse and discuss the existing legislative framework and its application, proposals for further initiatives in the field, as well as the interaction of passengers' and consumers' rights and the challenges for the future.

Experts in the field will focus on the following topics in the light of the latest EU legislation and jurisprudence:
  • Air passengers' rights: current state and possible review
  • Rights of maritime and bus/coach passengers: towards regulation
  • Rail passengers' rights: a year of applying the Regulation
  • Data protection in passengers' transport: striking the balance
  • Passengers with reduced mobility: access to transport
  • Passenger rights as part of package travel: reviewing the Directive
