Born in Vienna, Austria in 1980. International Baccalaureate in 1998. Graduated with an LL.B in English & European Law in 2002 and an LL.M in EU Law in 2003, both from the University of Essex, U.K. ERASMUS scholarship to the University of Amsterdam from 2000-2001.
National service in Austria in 2004, working for the Austrian Centre for Country of Origin and Asylum Research and Documentation (ACCORD), Austrian Red Cross. Intern at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Terrorism Prevention Branch and the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) in 2006. Worked for the European Ombudsman in the Legal Department from 2006-2007 and for the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs in the Directorate for General EU Affairs & EU Institutions from 2007-2008. From 2008-2011 worked in the Institution Building Unit of Directorate-General Enlargement, European Commission, assisting Candidate as well as Potential Candidate Countries and countries of the European Neighbourhood Policy with the Technical Assistance & Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX) in the area of Justice & Home Affairs, focussing on the combating of terrorism and its financing, money laundering and financial crime, as well as cooperation with Europol.
Course Director in Section III of the Academy of European Law since November 2011 and Senior Lawyer since 1 January 2017, dealing with terrorism, police cooperation, trafficking in drugs and human beings, migrant smuggling, financial and economic crime, as well as border management.
