Business Unit Manager for Marketing, Sales and Corporate Communications (f/m/d)

We, the Academy of European Law (ERA), are a leading continuing education institute and a partner of the European institutions. Established as a public not-for-profit foundation under private law, our mission is to improve the understanding and application of European law by training legal practitioners and by providing them with a forum for debate.

With the support of the European Union, our team of some 75 staff from 15 different countries designs and organises more than 200 conferences and courses on European law every year at our headquarters in Trier (Germany) and at other locations across Europe, as face-to-face, online or hybrid events. We also provide an e-learning platform and produce publications, in particular the quarterly legal journal ERA Forum.

We are looking to recruit you as of 1 January 2024 as


Business Unit Manager
for Marketing, Sales and Corporate Communications (f/m/d)
in full-time or part-time (minimum 32 hours per week)

Heading up a team of seven experienced employees, you will play a key role in driving ERA‘s growth and success by developing and implementing effective and innovative marketing and sales strategies as well as managing corporate communication to enhance our brand presence and reputation across Europe. You will also be involved in drawing up and implementing ERA‘s development strategy in close collaboration with the Management Board. You will report hierarchically to the Director.

Your main tasks:
  • Leading the Business Unit responsible for marketing, sales, key accounts, social media, PR, website management and registration.
  • Planning the Business Unit’s budget and allocating resources according to business priorities and overall strategy.
  • Conceiving and managing comprehensive strategies for marketing and sales to achieve revenue targets.
  • Developing participant acquisition strategies and analysing competition activity.
  • Monitoring and analysing marketing and sales performance metrics and ensuring continuous assessment of participant feedback.
  • Ensuring effective product positioning, pricing, go-to-market strategies, alignment of corporate messaging and brand consistency in collaboration with the Programme Department (product development team).
  • Managing ERA’s brand and increasing its awareness in Europe.
What you bring:
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in marketing and sales leadership roles, demonstrating your ability to drive sales growth and achieve commercial objectives, as well as your excellent knowledge of digital marketing and emerging trends.
  • Substantial background in corporate communications, media relations, and public relations.
  • Master‘s degree with preference for marketing, business administration, communications or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to work in a multinational environment, an open leadership style.
  • Native or bilingual proficiency in English; knowledge of German and French would be an advantage.
  • A deep interest in and understanding of Europe and the decision-making process of the EU institutions would be an asset.
