From 27 February to 3 March 2025, the city of Trier welcomed over 150 young participants for the Regional Selection Conference of the European Youth Parliament (EYP). Held under the title History as the Foundation of European Cooperation, the event explored key topics such as European collaboration in border regions, the single market, and Europe’s role in the global economy. Trier, with its rich historical heritage and proximity to France and Luxembourg, provided the ideal setting.

 
The conference took place under the patronage of the Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate, the President of the University of Trier, and the Lord Mayor of Trier. Participants engaged in workshops, debates, and discussions designed to deepen their understanding of European policy-making. Highlights included a panel discussion with MEPs Katarina Barley and Jutta Paulus, as well as an excursion to the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The event’s climax was the general assembly, hosted at ERA, where, delegates debated and voted on resolutions they had developed, following the model of the European Parliament. We were delighted to provide the venue for this key session, which enabled a lively and constructive exchange of ideas.

At the close of the conference, the top delegates were selected by an independent jury to advance to the National Selection Conference in Karlsruhe. From there, the most outstanding participants will go on to represent Germany at the International Session of the EYP, contributing to wider European discussions.
