Lawyer (Course Director) in European Competition Law

Would you like to work at the cutting edge of European law, helping judges, lawyers and other legal professionals to put the latest developments into practice?

The Academy of European Law is the leading partner of the European institutions, national administrations and professional associations in continuing professional training in European law.

We are looking for a new member of our team as of 1 October 2017:

Lawyer (Course Director) (f/m) in European Competition Law

with expertise and/or professional experience in EU business law, state aid and public procurement

The job offers a variety of work and entails primarily the management of three key activities:
  • preparing and running training courses
  • organising high-level conferences
  • developing e-learning modules
which you conceive to target the specific needs of practitioners of European law such as lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel and civil servants and which you help promote among these target groups. Knowledge in EU regulated markets (telecommunication, energy) is a plus.

You will have extensive knowledge of European law coupled with an analytical mind-set, good networking and communication skills, an understanding for ERA‘s business needs and fluency in at least two of ERA’s three working languages (English, French and German). Professional experience of legal practice ideally acquired in a corporate environment would be an advantage. Native English-speakers and lawyers with a common law background are particularly encouraged to apply.

We offer a competitive salary, private pension insurance scheme, the opportunity to work closely with leading experts in European law and the chance to be part of a dynamic multi-national team.

The post is for an initial fixed term of two years, after which an indefinite contract may be offered. The normal place of work is located at ERA’s premises in Trier, Germany, just over the border from the EU‘s judicial capital in Luxembourg. Regular travel is part of the job.

If you feel attracted by the idea of working in a genuine European team and of promoting European law among European lawyers, please send us your CV, references and a motivation letter by e-mail – indicating your salary expectations (applications without this information cannot be accepted) – in one of the Academy’s working languages by 8 September 2017 to:
