We, the Academy of European Law (ERA), a public foundation under private law and a leading partner of the European institutions, are looking to recruit as of 1 January 2023


Director of Finance and Human Resources (f/m/d)
and future member of the Management Board


With the support of the European Union, ERA, with a team of currently 75 staff from 14 different EU Member States, develops and organises about 150 conferences and trainings a year at its headquarters in Trier and at venues in many European countries, as well as in online and hybrid formats. ERA‘s working languages are English, French and German.

The post:

You will manage and be responsible for the areas of finance and accounting as well as controlling. You will also be responsible for the important area of human resources planning, development and management. You will report directly to the Director of ERA and represent ERA as a member of the Management Board.

What we expect:

You have a university degree in finance/accounting and controlling as well as relevant professional and management experience in German-speaking countries. Ideally, you also bring knowledge and expertise in (German) labour law as well as in human resources management. Experience in cooperation with the European institutions as well as in the area of project financing would be an advantage, as would comprehensive knowledge of DATEV. You have strategic and analytical thinking skills as well as assertiveness and the ability to drive change in an organisation.

You demonstrate empathy and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your leadership style is open. You are fluent in German; your written and spoken English is business-fluent.
