Q&A with Sophie Tuffreau
What motivated you to apply for a scholarship to attend the Annual Conference on EU Social Security Law?
As an advocate general at the Cour de cassation in France, I specialize in social security law. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to attend the Summer Course on European Social Security Law. Then, last year, I took part in the European Social Security Law Conference. The quality of this event and its level of professionalism led me to want to attend again this year.
Was there a particular session, speaker, or topic that stood out or inspired you?
As a member of the judiciary, I was particularly interested in the legal aspects and the analysis of the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. But it was also very interesting for me to discover the practice of national social security institutions.
How do you think this conference will support your current work?
This conference enables me to keep myself informed about the latest developments in this field, but also to better understand the practice of national administrations.
Did you have the opportunity to connect with other participants or speakers during the networking breaks?
The advantage of coming to Trier over just following the event online is that one can meet the speakers and the other participants during the breaks. This is a very valuable opportunity to compare approaches between different countries and create contacts that will be useful for my future work.
Would you recommend this conference or similar ERA events to other legal professionals or scholars?
I would definitely recommend this conference to my colleagues, as well as the summer course, both of which are of very high quality and very relevant for professionals in this field.
