Q & A with Jelena Malesevic
Your current occupation and country of work?
I work as Counsel I in EMEA Business Legal in Syneos Health, a clinical research organisation. I am based in Belgrade, Serbia.
How do you use European law in your work?
As Counsel I in the EMEA Business Legal department of a CRO (Syneos Health), I apply European Union law daily. My responsibilities include providing legal advice, negotiating agreements, and ensuring compliance with EU regulations, particularly those relevant to clinical research and pharmaceutical agreements. EU law plays a central role in shaping the legal frameworks within which we operate, especially given the cross-border nature of the clinical research industry.
How did you benefit from the scholarship and the knowledge gained?
As a legal professional working in a CRO, which is closely connected to the pharmaceutical industry, deepening my understanding of EU pharmaceutical regulations will enable me to advise my team better and contribute to more effective contract negotiations.
