Q & A with Federico Pisani
Name, current occupation and country of work
My name is Federico Pisani. I am an Italian labour lawyer and employment law advisor at Studio Legale Carlo Pisani in Rome and I also serve as an adjunct professor of social security law at the University of Cassino.
How do you use (or will you use) European law in your work
European law plays a key role both in my legal practice and in the various academic research projects I am involved in. Knowledge of EU law is crucial for me both to develop legal strategies for my clients in cross-border labour matters and to acquire a fundamental framework for the interpretation and application of national labour law in Italy.
How did you benefit (or will you benefit) from the scholarship and the gained knowledge
I greatly benefited from the valuable insights shared during the ERA summer course 2025 on European labour law. The content and discussions provided me with new perspectives that I am already using to finalise several academic papers, mainly focusing on the relationship between EU and Italian labour law.
What impressed you most about the event?
Among the topics covered, I found the presentation on digital platform work particularly inspiring. As for the organisation of the course, I truly appreciated the opportunity to visit the Court of Justice of the European Union. I would highly recommend ERA conferences: they offer a rare combination of intellectually stimulating content relevant to both practice and research and enjoyable social moments that create meaningful connections among professionals from around the world.
