Q & A with Milica Popović

Your current occupation and country of work?
My name is Milica Popović and I am attorney at law based in Novi Sad, Serbia.

How do you use European law in your work?
As an attorney at law in Serbia, European antitrust law plays a crucial role in my legal practice, particularly given Serbia’s path towards EU membership and the alignment of Serbian regulations with EU standards. In my work, I frequently address issues related to competition law, such as advising clients on antitrust compliance and navigating the regulatory landscape for mergers and acquisitions.

How did you benefit from the scholarship and the knowledge gained?
Throughout the course, I engaged with complex legal concepts and real-world scenarios that challenged and expanded my knowledge of European antitrust regulations. The diverse group of international participants and the expert instructors facilitated rich discussions and provided varied perspectives on antitrust issues.
The course deepened my comprehension of EU antitrust regulations, which will enable me to provide more informed and strategic legal advice to my clients. By exploring the latest developments in competition policy and case law, I can better assist clients in achieving compliance with both Serbian and EU competition laws. Also, the connections made with other legal professionals and experts during the course will foster future collaborations and exchanges of best practices in the field of antitrust law.
The financial support from the scholarship was instrumental in enabling my attendance on the course, thereby enhancing my professional development. Attending the ERA Summer Course on European Antitrust Law was a pivotal experience in my professional journey. The ERA scholarship was crucial in facilitating this learning opportunity, and I am confident that the knowledge and skills gained will have a lasting positive impact on my career and contributions to the field of antitrust law.
